6 Things You Should Know About Booking a Hotel in the 21st Century

limo service pittsburgh, pittsburgh limo ,hotel bookingsDo you find that hotel bookings are getting more expensive -- or just more confusing? There are so many options today for hotel bookings, deals and discounts, that it can be difficult to keep track of everything.

1. Loyalty really does matter. You are far more likely to get good rates, discounts and additional services if you book with the same hotel chain over and over -- even if you're booking at other branches. Hotels keep track of their repeat customers and take action to keep them.

2. Third-party booking sites are extremely unpopular. The front desk gets third-party bookings faxed into them and needs to handle them differently from other bookings -- and the hotel doesn't make as much money because the third-party takes a fee. If you want to be treated well, book directly through the hotel's front desk rather than a booking service.

3. Don't forget to look for a coupon. When you book through the hotel's site itself, there's usually a "coupon code" area. Search online for a coupon for that chain and you can usually save anywhere between 5% to 15% on your booking. These coupons are usually sent out as email deals to prospective and repeat customers, but you may have missed them.

4. Always ask about possible discounts. Not all discounts are usually listed on a hotel's website. Normally, senior citizens and AAA will be the only two listed -- but there are other discounts, you just need to ask. You can even ask about a personal discount, for a lower rate. It doesn't hurt to try!

5. Be as polite as possible. Usually the front desk can override the price that they give you by a certain amount and the manager can override the price to an even greater percentage. And often they will, but only if you're nice and kind to them. And if you make a habit of being a difficult guest, that will probably get you noticed, too.

The most important thing to remember is that, for a large part, hotel rates are usually fairly negotiable. As long as you are polite and firm, you can usually get a fairly significant discount on price.
