Labor Day in Pittsburgh: Events and Getaways

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer in Pittsburgh. Now, you can either choose to feel sad about it or you can decide to have one last celebration before school and work start and the long sunny days are long gone. If you choose the latter, there are numerous ways to make the most of this weekend.

At our Pittsburgh car service, we have taken it upon ourselves to research and inform you on some exciting ways you can close your 2017 summer chapter. Our Pittsburgh limo service is also at your disposal to ferry you to any and all of these destinations, relieving you of the burden of navigation on this busy weekend and giving you time to squeeze every drop of fun out of the next four days.

The Annual Heinz Field Kickoff & Rib Festival

Attend the Heinz Field Kickoff and Rib Fest, a favorite amongst Pittsburgh residents. Enjoy the festival amongst thousands and stay entertained with live performances, numerous family-friendly activities, and of course, barbequed ribs!  The event is fully sponsored by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Heinz Field, so it’s absolutely free and open to the public. The event is scheduled for 31st August from 12 pm to 11 pm.

Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival

The Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to show up at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. The Labor Day weekend also marks Children’s Weekend in Pittsburgh, which means that there will be plenty of family-friendly activities.

For extra fun with the kids, come dressed as a prince/princess and enter the costume contest. Try out the medieval rides and games and later enjoy the live music and entertainment. The Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival is a well-rounded event and may be the perfect way to end your summer.

The festival kicks off on 2nd and ends on 4th September in West Newton. Opening hours are between 10 am and 7 pm and the admission fee is $21 for adults, $10 for kids between 5 and 12, and free for kids below 5.

Pittsburgh Omega Labor Day Weekend

This is a grown-up affair. The Omega Labor Day Weekend is one of the most highly anticipated Labor Day parties in Pittsburgh. The party is hosted by Iota Phi Chapter and will change venue each day over its three-day course.

Some of the anticipated party venues include Pittsburgh hot spots; the River Casino and the XTAZA night club. An all-access pass is going for $60, and you must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID card to access any of these venues. The Omega Labor Weekend will kick off on 1st and come to a close on 3rd September.

Mingle with Dinosaurs at the Pittsburgh Zoo

Take a trip back to the prehistoric era. The kids will love mingling with the life-sized dinosaurs. The Pittsburgh Zoo brings out a clear picture of these prehistoric creatures’ grandeur. You will be able to access books and videos that illustrate how actual dinosaurs roamed the earth in order to bring this prehistoric time into clearer perspective. The admission fee at the Pittsburgh zoo is $6 for adults and $5 if they are a member. Kids will pay $5 and $4 if they are a member. The Pittsburgh Zoo is open every day between 9 am and 6 pm.
